Economic Challenges Series
May 1 and 2, 6:00 pm-8:00pm
Location TBA
Embedded in an entry-level Economics class, the Series is a two-night event featuring student presentations on current budget problems, followed by table discussions among small groups about possible solutions. Rough Cut Film Festival
May 8, 5:00pm-7:30pm
PAC 144 & PAC Courtyard
The Film Festival features a set of short documentaries made by student teams from the first-year academic writing course. The students spend the semester researching and writing about digital identities; their films are built on knowledge they gain and persistent questions they have during the reading and writing process. Films will be shown in PAC 144 from 5:00pm-6:30pm. A reception follows in the PAC courtyard from 6:30pm-7:30pm.
Sense of Place Exhibit
May 15, 8:00am-5:00pm
Colusa Hall & Colusa/Selvesters Courtyard
After studying Communities of Practice learning, students from University 105: Self, Identity and Sustainability present short films about their own groups functioning as a Community of Practice (COP). They analyze their own group as a functioning COP and present their findings. This event also includes presentations by students in another Sustainability Pathway course, History 341: American Environment. The students from this course hold panel presentations applying the information from the course to the specific natural setting from which they come.
