Staff

The First-Year-Experience program at CSU, Chico provides many services and communities for its students and staff in order to engage, assist and guide first-year students. One of these special offerings is the Civic Mentor community. The Civic Mentors are here to help you and assist you in any way they can, and if there is a question that they are unable to answer for you, they will do their very best to direct you to the appropriate person or source. While your UNIV 101 teachers advance learning in the classroom, Civic Mentors will help expand your understanding about civic engagement outside of the classroom. One of their many jobs is to lead students in a service project that will connect you to, as well as benefit, the campus and community.

In addition, Civic Mentors are trained students whom you can go to for advice. All Civic Mentors are students here at CSU, Chico, and are sophomores, juniors, or seniors. They are here as a resource to you for any question you might have, whether they have the answer or can point you in the right direction. They are knowledgeable about how the university system works, some of the different majors that are offered, clubs and programs to join, the services available to all students on campus, and the surrounding community. Civic Mentors are college students who have successfully figured out the in's and out's of college life and want to help new students do the same.

Visit the civic mentor page for more information about the mentors in our program.
