Academic Inquiry - Getting Ready
As you make the major life transition of moving from high school to college, consider how you have approached your school experiences in the past. What are your strengths as a developing scholar? Where might you need support?
Do you like to read? Are you comfortable reading for extended periods of time? Do you read both for pleasure and in order to find information?
Do you enjoy writing? Have you written many different kinds of texts for a variety of purposes and readers? Do you write your papers over time, using a drafting and revision process, or do you tend to write papers and other assignments at the last minute?
Do you use quantitative reasoning to understand information presented as tables, graphs, statistics? Do you do mathematical calculations to interpret new information, solve problems, and check the accuracy of information you are given?
Are you curious? Do you enjoy asking questions and investigating possible answers? Are you interested in complex situations, problems and ideas?
CSU, Chico provides academic assistance for you through its Connections Program, its EOP Program, its Student Learning Center, its CourseLINK Program, and its Peer Mentor Program.
