Student Wellbeing
Adjusting to life in college requires a balanced approach to daily life, including time spent on studies, leisure, community involvement, healthy habits and thoughtful reflection.
CSU, Chico provides you with many opportunities for crafting a balanced life that will enhance your wellbeing and make your college years successful and memorable.
Second semester freshmen report that learning to make studies their first priority turns out to be the key in choosing how to plan, use time well, and include the right amount of social, community and “me” time in their daily schedules.
FYE provides the following support for first-year students working on crafting a fulfilling college experience:
UNIV 101: “Introduction to University Life” provides new students with explicit information about and practice in balancing schoolwork with other aspects of college life.
HealthQuest (launching Fall 2009)—an online experience co-sponsored by the Counseling Center, FYE, the Health Center, SafeStart and CADEC—provides students with an enjoyable way to cope with stress and homesickness, stay informed about health issues, stay safe, and learn more about yourself.
The Peer Mentor Program provides first-year students with older students willing and available to answer questions, chat about homesickness as well as study and social issues, and give you referrals to a wide array of campus services.
For meeting new friends, FYE recommends: A.S. Late Night programming and other A.S. events & organizations; Book in Common events; CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education); Housing activities.
