Discover Your Superpowers

Superpowers are amazing tools that can expand the way we experience our world. This summer, explore superpowers that exist in nature and those that exist inside of you!

What Superpowers Exist In Nature?

Investigate nature’s superpowers by creating objects that explore the power in water, sun, plants, and more:

• Create a solar-powered oven to harness the power of the sun to cook your lunch.
• Test the superpower of flight by birds, planes and more!

What Superpowers Do You Possess?

We all have superpowers inside of us. The challenge is to identify those superpowers and learn how to develop their power. Jump into a range of activities to discover your special superpowers and how to make them stronger:

• Take a sensory journey through the Butte Creek Ecological Preserve: test your powers of hearing to identify birds and other creatures you can hear but not see. Use the power of sight to find creatures that are camouflaged in their environment.
• Do you have the same superpowers as a wolf cub? Test your ability to find your sibling and your den just by focusing your powers on your sense of smell.
• Investigate the power of touch: let your hands guide your exploration of objects hidden from your sight. Learn to identify objects through their texture, size, weight and shape.

Discover your Superpowers During Gateway Discovery Camps

Superpowers of Science summer camps are designed for students entering 4^th – 6^th grades this fall. Cost is $150 per session. Each session runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and will be held on the following dates:

• June 25 – 29
• July 16 – 20

Each camper will need to submit the following four forms: 2012 Discovery Summer Camp registration Informed Consent Agreement Authorization to Treat a Minor Permission to Publish Photos All four forms are available here.
