Beginning July 27, 2015, the parking permit kiosk at Gateway will NOT ACCEPT CASH OR COINS. Kiosk will only accept credit or debit cards to pay for permits.

On weekdays that Gateway is open (Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays), the parking spaces closest to the museum building are reserved for museum visitors ONLY. Click here for a helpful parking map. To park in the museum lot on one of these days, visitors must:

  1. Purchase a parking permit for their time at Gateway at the self-service ticket kiosk near the museum entrance. Permits are $1 per hour or $5 for all day and may be purchased with credit/debit cards with the Visa/MasterCard logos ONLY. Please read directions on the kiosk carefully.
  2. Place parking receipt face up on dashboard of vehicle.
  3. Register the vehicle in the museum store to ensure a parking citation is not issued.

Parking in these spots without following these steps may result in a citation.

On weekends parking is free and more available. Parking spaces in the museum lot, as well as the campus lot behind the museum near the Aymer J. Hamilton building, are available for parking for free. Parking in campus lots is not restricted on weekends or official state holidays.

Additional parking is available on the streets around downtown at meters.

Please do not park at the Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park when coming to the museum. Parking in their lot may result in a citation. Also know that many of the residential streets around the immediate area of the museum do not allow public parking.

Additional information about parking on campus can be found here.
