California State University, Chico (CSUC) is located in Chico, CA, a treelined
community with a population of approximately 100,000. Chico serves as the
commercial, recreational, agricultural, and medical center for northeastern
California.
It is located near the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and is 175 miles mortheast
of San Francisco and 90 miles north of Sacramento.
The university occupies 120 acres and is said to be the most beautiful in
the CSU system. Big Chico Creek passes through the verdant campus, which has
over 40 varieties of trees.
The student population is approximately 15,000, about 2,000 of whom are graduate
students in over 20 graduate programs.
The University library contains about two million documents, and online access
is available to all libraries in the CSU and UC systems.
Chico State has a distinguished faculty-award-winning scholars, artists,
and reserchers in every field of study.
College of Business
The CSU, Chico College of Business is accredited by American Assembly of
collegiate Schools of Business(AACSB). Only 280 of the 1,200 business programs
in the US share this distinction.
Over 300 major companies recruit at the university each year. Among them
are Hewlett-Packard, SAP, Accenture, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Deloitte &
Touche, Chevron, Intel, Apple, Micron, Applied Materials and BearingPoint. Many MBA and
MSA alumini work for these and other prominent companies.
The College of Business at CSU, Chico has state-of-the-art equipment that
is availble to students in several computer labs. The use of technology to
enhance learning effectiveness is emphasized.
Graduate students in business have a separate computing lab, as well as a
private group meeting and study area.
Membership in the Graduate Business Assciation(GBA) provides business graduate
students with the opportunity to network with peers, faculty, alumni, and
company representatives.
Graduate Programs
Degree programs offered are the Master of Business Administration (MBA).
The MBA is designed to prepare its participants for challenging
managerial positions in an ever-changing global areana. Students may choose
an emphasis in management Information Systems (MIS), Production/Operations
management, Marketing, Management, Finance, Human Resource Management, or
Small Business Management.
The MBA with MIS Emphasis focuses on managing organizations
using Enterprise Resourse Planning (ERP). The program provides students with
the managerial and technical backgrounds to become managers in an ERP environment.
The CSUC College of Business ERP software used in industry today. Advanced
courses in Networking, Oracle, and e-commerce are also availble.
The MS in Accountancy degree prepares students to be professional
accountants or accounting system managers. Students can create an emphasis
in Accounting Systems, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, or Auditing.
