Dear California Natural Resource Professionals and Educators,

It is my pleasure to inform you of a unique opportunity for training in remote sensing and image processing. Through a grant from the California Community College Chancellor's office, the California Geospatial Education Technology and Training (CalGETT) program offers 1 week workshops in remote sensing. The CalGETT Summer 2010 Workshop Schedule is as follows:

Natural Resource Professionals Workshop (June 6-10, 2010,; Saratoga, California)

Educators Workshop (August 2010, Shasta College; Redding, California)

The focus of these workshops is the application of remote sensing and image processing to practical needs in public land, natural and cultural resource management. Resource  professionals will develop the skills needed to begin applying imagery to feature extraction, land cover interpretation, product output and a range of related skills. Educators will learn basic skills for acquisition, processing, and interpretation of imagery for workplace needs. Part of this process will involve exploring teaching materials and techniques.

The CalGETT program is a collaborative project between Shasta College and West Valley College. Supporting partners include NASA, USGS, and others. CalGETT participants will be entitled to a range of benefits beyond the workshop content, including:

• Lodging and stipend for the duration of the workshop

• A one year license of ITT-Vis' ENVI 4.6 remote sensing Software

• Sample imagery and related support materials

Please go the CalGETT website ( for the application and additional details. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Sincere regards,

Dan Scollon
