European Studies
European Studies provides an interdisciplinary perspective on the history, politics, economics, and culture of this important region.
This degree minor provides an important regional specialization for students majoring in a social science, one of the humanities, or a professional degree. Students interested in minoring in European Studies should work out a program of study in conjunction with the program coordinator. Many study abroad programs provide credit toward this minor.
Middle Eastern Studies
Middle Eastern Studies focuses on a central region of the world, the cradle of human civilization, the birthplace of three major relegions, the seedbed of Western culture, and played a role in human history and has become extremely important in international polities and economic affairs in recent years. The minor in Middle Eastern Studies is designed so that students can draw on courses from geography, history, political science, religious studies, anthropology and economics and combine them into a comprehensive program of study. Students are also encouraged, although not required, to study one of the major languages of the area. Two such languages - Arabic and Hebrew are offered through the Self-Instructional Language Program.
