Academic Credit


Students who study abroad must fill out Course Equivalency Forms with their academic advisers prior to their departure to ensure they receive credit in their major, minor, general education, or Upper Division Theme.


There are two ways in which courses can be counted toward your graduation requirements at CSU, Chico:


1. They can be articulated as Chico State Courses This would apply to the courses that USAC or IP already converted to Chico State terminology (call numbers, titles, etc.)


2. They can be substituted for Chico State Courses This would apply to the courses that OIP/USAC did NOT convert to Chico State terminology (i.e. they just listed the foreign course title and number).

International Programs (IP):


*Students going abroad through IP will receive the appropriate forms from the IP Central Office upon acceptance into the program.



Upper Division Theme Forms:


*Students should contact the Study Abroad Office to receive the appropriate theme forms.


Once these forms are completed and signed by both you and your adviser, you will need to submit the original form to the Study Abroad Office.


All forms can be turned in to the Study Abroad Office by delivering them to the Student Service Center room 440. If you have questions about a form prior to turning it in, please schedule an appointment to meet with one of the Study Abroad Advisers.
