Important:
Students coming to California State University, Chico as an International Exchange Student are slightly different from other International Students. Most of the information on the International Student Services web page will be useful to you; HOWEVER some of the information (University Fees and Course Registration) will be different for you. If you ever have any questions or concerns, contact Mike Nieto in Study Abroad Office for clarification (mdnieto@csuchico.edu).
It is always important that you contact your home University’s International Office to obtain proper approval and instructions BEFORE you submit an application to us.
The Study Abroad Office will be here to assist you with the entire process and will be contacting you with further information once you have applied.

How Exchange Students are different from other International Students:
- Students coming to the University on an international exchange do not pay fees for tuition at CSU, Chico.
- International exchange students work with the Study Abroad Office instead of the International Student Services Office.
- Exchange students are registered into courses by the Study Abroad Office.
- International Exchange Students are invited to participate in the Mentor / Buddy Program; regular international students do not have this opportunity.
- Exchange students only attend CSU, Chico for a semester or year; International students are degree seeking students.
