New Business

We mainly discussed a 2008 CELT Conference proposal development. Our discussion focused on identifying existing models: Who is doing what on campuswide international service learning and internships, as well as similar activities (international students summer volunteering).

Five models Identified are:

  1. Study Abroad program model (overseas study with and without language skill required)
  2. CAVE model –student running service learning
  3. Internship Center model –academically related work (i.e., Business, Engineering, etc.)
  4. Department based faculty model (committed department faculty members in diverse disciplines (i.e., Agriculture, Social Work, etc.)
  5. Alternative program model (special summer or winter special programs)

Finally we agreed that 2008 CELT Conference proposal will include panelists who are representing each model. It is suggested that Diana Parks will be invited for panel.
