Working with International Students: Publications

  • American Ways by Gary Althen This excellent book, an older edition of which is available in the CSU, Chico library, explains in clear language U.S. cultural norms which may be confusing to international students. It can be very enlightening for U.S. people as well, who likely take most aspects of their culture for granted.
  • Host Family Survival Kit by Nancy King and Ken Huff This book introduces the challenges of being a host family and offers advice on making the most of the opportunity.
