Gamma Phi Beta became a chapter on the Chico State campus in 1988. Since then, our sisterhood, scholarship, and philanthropy has thrived and our chapter continues to grow and make a difference on campus, in the Greek system, and throughout the Chico community.
Our philanthropy is Camp Fire USA, a camp that provides a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for children and youth to engage in educational, enrichment, and service-learning programs that address social issues and builds life skills. To raise money for our philanthropy, we plan an annual Crescent Classic, which we like to call “Spagammi”, an all-you-can-eat pasta feed that we hold at Sylvester’s Café on campus.
We co-sponsor socials with other fraternities on campus, as well as sponsor our own socials that allow members to invite a date for the night. Some of our themes have included Fantasy Phi League, Head Bangers Ball, Rescue Me, Heartbreakers, as well as our annual formal, Carnation Cocktail. Along with socials, we also plan events that allow us to share our sisterhood with our loved ones, including Parent’s Weekend, Mom’s Weekend, Dad’s Weekend, Alumnae Weekend, and our all-chapter Sisterhood Retreat in Lake Tahoe.
