National Founding Date: November 9, 1874
Local Founding Date: July 12, 1959
Motto: “One heart, One way”

We are the Delta Iota Chapter of Sigma Kappa at California State University, Chico. As any member of Sigma Kappa can relay, when you become a sister of Sigma Kappa you become apart of an organization that encompasses sisters of all ages from coast to coast. Besides sharing a commitment to excellence, we all share the same principals and purposes. From sisterhood to friendship, from focusing on scholastic achievements to service, Sigma Kappa enriches the life of its members.

Since our chapter was founded in 1874, the ladies of Sigma Kappa have been giving back to society. We concentrate on three philanthropic endeavors: gerontology with a focus in Alzheimer’s research, the Maine Sea Coast Mission society, and Inherit the Earth. All of our members understand and sustain the importance of giving back. Each year, Sigma Kappa forms a team and participates in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at One Mile in Bidwell Park. This is a fun way for our chapter to give back to our community and our national philanthropy while strengthening the bonds of our sisterhood.

While we stress the importance of our national philanthropies, Sigma Kappa also emphasizes the importance of supporting our Greek community. Being a member of Sigma Kappa provides women with lifelong opportunities as well as providing social, intellectual, and spiritual development.
