How do you select students for GST?

We are looking for students who can do the work and do it well and students who will do the work and do it with enthusiasm. We base our selection on these items: High school GPA (about a 3.2 or better), letter of application, and exemption from or scores on the EPT (English Placement Test) and the ELM (Entry Level Math exam) indicating one is qualified to begin college work. Exemption from these tests comes with high SAT or ACT scores. Often we also do a phone interview. We also try to determine if an applicant will work well with the same thirty-five other students and the faculty for a whole academic year. If one has the ability to do the work, motivation and enthusiasm are the keys to making the most of GST -- and college.
