Dr. Ferrini earned her Ph.D. in Health Science from the University of Utah and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the Rocky Mountain Gerontology Center.  She also holds a M.S. in Family and Child Development from Kansas State University. 

Dr. Ferrini currently the Chair of the department. She advises students in the Health Education Option and Health Science minor. In addition to her administration and advising duties, she teaches the courses Health in the Later Years and Women's Health. She also has a interest in environmental and international health issues, especially as they relate to issues of social justice and women. She has traveled extensively in Central America, including Cuba and Haiti, to study the relationship of the political system upon the health conditions in those countries.
