Vahan Hovsepian, MFT is the Director of Family & Children’s Services for the California Superior Court, Butte County and a full-time Psychology Instructor at Butte College.  His duties at the Court include supervising the Family Court Services/Mediation and Investigation unit and serves as the Court’s liaison will all of the Treatment/Collaborative Courts in Butte County, which include: Drug Court, Collaborative Treatment Court (Prop 36), DUI Court, Domestic Violence Court and previously our Mental Health Treatment Court.  Mr. Hovsepian serves on various oversight committees  involving the drug courts as well as on the Northern Regional Meth Grant Steering Committee. He assists the court and its collaborative partners in writing grants, conducting research and program development. He has most recently been appointed by the Chief Justice to serve on the Elkins Family Law Task Force. 

He has over 30 years experience as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and nearly 30 years experience with the Superior Court in Family Court Services. Mr. Hovsepian also has taught psychology courses for over 30 years.  In addition to teaching various psychology classes at Butte College, he has taught Introduction to Chemical Dependency for the past 5 years in their Addiction Studies Certificate program.
