Mary Rushka has been a faculty member in the Department of Health and Community Services at California State University, Chico since 1986. She earned her doctorate in Public Health from UCLA. Her research and teaching interests include clinical health promotion, worksite health promotion, tobacco cessation and school health.. In addition to teaching Epidemiology to HCSV majors for many semesters, she now teaches Health Education for Elementary Teachers and Child Health. Both courses are offered in the classroom and online through Distance Education.
She serves on many community and school committees, coaches youth soccer, and is a health education consultant for medical practices throughout Northern California.
Dr. Rushka enjoys living in the North State where she enjoys camping, cycling, skiing and canoeing with her husband and three school-aged children.
