The Minor in Health Promotion

Course Requirements for the Minor: 21-23 units

The following courses, or their approved transfer equivalents, are required of all candidates for this minor.

This course introduces health education theory, curricula, resources, and marketing techniques for use in school and community settings. Students plan, develop, implement, and evaluate effective health education and promotion programs. Students practice professional health education techniques while working with a local organization to implement a community health education. 3 hours lecture.(001613)

Prerequisites: BIOL 104 is strongly recommended.

This course is also offered as WMST 368 .
Prerequisites: MATH 105; HCSV 211, HCSV 321 for Health Education majors only. Recommended: HCSV 320.
Prerequisites: BIOL 104 with a grade of C- or higher or faculty permission for non-majors, basic computer literacy skills.
Prerequisites: One lower-division course in biological sciences.

Note: If you major in Health Science with any option, you may only minor in an option other than your major and must take at least 3 additional courses from the list above and beyond the requirements of your major.
