Kari is a Chico native and an Alumni of the HCSV department with a B.S. in Health Education. She went on to earn her Secondary Teaching Credential in Health Science also from CSUC participating in the Department of Education's exchange program teaching in Dublin, Ireland. Her focus then turned to school health, working for 10 years as a teacher and administrator in public schools. That experience lead her to get involved with many public health agencies targeting teen pregnancy prevention, peer mentor education, school-to-career programs for at risk youth, and in particular, the migrant health issues affecting her students and their families of California's central coast. These experiences sparked her drive to complete her Masters in Public Health starting at San Jose State University, finishing with Walden University and a year long graduate project working with the American Red Cross. Doing graduate work online grew into a career in online education working as a Health subjects instructor, teacher trainer, and lead administrator in California for the largest online K-12 school and curriculum provider in the US. Kari is a proud to be back home in the north state with her husband and three daughters.
