We partner with the Sierra Cascade Nutrition and Activity Consortium (SCNAC) which is administered through the Network for a Healthy California with federal funding from the United States Department of Agriculture. We work toward improving the health status of low income Californians through increased fruit and vegetable consumption and daily physical activity. Five of our faculty incorporate service learning projects focusing on nutrition and fitness into their classes resulting in hundreds of HCSV students getting professional experience while meeting needs in our community. Below is a quick look at some of the programs we have created through our partnership. Buena Salud An afterschool nutrition and activity program for children of migrant laborers. |
