  1. Administer Indirect Assessment with the Philosophy Major Questionnaire every semester with the students in the WP capstone seminar.
  2. Administer Direct Assessment in one or more classes for the PHIL major, with focus upon one or two of seven student learning outcomes
  3. Disseminate a summary of the assessment results and reflections with the department faculty
  4. Implement change to curriculum or assessment plan as indicated by department discussion
  5. Ascertain which of the student learning outcomes to assess for the following semester.

  • Fall 2005: Composition of the Student Learning Outcomes and Course Matrix
  • Spring 2006: Indirect assessment of Student Learning Outcomes in WP capstone seminar
  • Spring 2007: Indirect assessment of Student Learning Outcomes in WP capstone seminar; direct assessment of SLOs #2 and #7 in two courses
  • Fall 2007: Indirect assessment of Student Learning Outcomes in WP capstone seminar; direct assessment of SLOs #2 and #7 in PHIL 108, Philosophical Methods
