During the Academic Year, 2007-08, the Department of Theatre Arts will assess GOAL #3 for the two major programs, THEA & MUTH.

#3 the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
Theatre majors develop skills that allow them to become collaborative artists. Communication is inherent to the nature and process of creating theatre; interpersonal skills are vital to the collaborative evolution from aesthetic concept through to its execution.

SLO3a. Students can evaluate the needs and desires of the group (cast, production team, etc.),

SLO3b. Students can combine these needs and concepts into a process.

SLO3c. Students can communicate resulting problems and solutions effectively, using standard theoretical strategies.

These student learning outcomes associated with Goal 3 will be assessed in the production classes, THEA 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 301, 302, 303, 306, 309, 383, 401, 402, & 406.

These courses are taught by a number of faculty and will be assessed by evaluation of cumulative writing assignments for each course. A rubric has already been developed and will be tailored to reflect the data as needed for clarity.
