Press Release from Dr. Robert Bowman:

You are cordially invited to attend Dr. Robert Bowman's Reitrement Concert on Sunday, April 6th, at 2 p.m. in Ruth Rowland -Taylor Recital Hall (PAC 134).

He will be joined by Cellist Burke Schuchmann and Flutist Yael Ronan in a program of "MOSTLY RUSSIAN FAVORITES"

The program includes Prokofiev's SONATA for piano #1 in f minor; Haydn's last TRIO in G major for flute, cello, and piano, Prokofiev's SONATA in D major, Op. 97 r for flute and piano, Rachmaninoff's PRELUDE for piano in e minor, Op. 32#4, and his SONATA in g minor, Op. 19 for cello and piano.

The concert is free and open to the public. Donations for the Jane Bowman Jewett and John Svec Award will be gratefully accepted.

The Butte County Branch of the Music Teacher's Association of California will honor Dr. Bowman by hosting a reception immediately following the concert in the PAC 132 Rehearsal Hall. Dr. Bowman has been a member of this organization since 1971 when he first came to Chico.

While this event will be Dr. Bowman’s last "official" public concert at CSU, Chico before fully retiring in May, 2008, you are also invited to attend his performance as featured soloist with the CSU, Chico Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Royce Tevis in the first movement of Grieg's Immortal PIANO CONCERTO in a minor, Op. 16. The concert will be held on Saturday, APril 26th in Laxson Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. For ticket information contact the University Box Office, 898-6333.

Plans after retiring? Dr. Bowman will return to Karlsruhe Germany in
June where he will teach Improvisation for a week at the Hochschule fur
Musik and perform in three concerts as well as join Professor Sontraud Speidel
and one of her colleagues from the Hochschule in a performance of the 3 Sonatas for Pianoby Brahms at Brahmshaus, Baden-Baden. I will play his favorite of the three, SONATA #3 in f minor, Op. 5
