The College
of Humanities and Fine Arts is proud of student achievement:
- Chico
Historian, a collection of student essays, is edited by History
students.
- Watershed,
a literary magazine edited and published by students, has
been published each semester since 1977. It is one of the oldest
continously published student-edited literary magazines in the
nation.
- Flume
Press at CSU, Chico is a literary chapbook publishing house
affiliated with the English department's certificate in literary
editing and publishing program. It offers students the opportunity
to learn how a small literary press works as they help publish
poetry and fiction chapbooks selected via a national literary
contest.
- Students
participate in the Ethics Bowl, a local and national contest
that tests reasoning skills on the important issues of the day.
- HFA students
present papers at national conferences such as the American
Academy of Religion, the Conference on College Composition and
Communication, and the National Council of Teachers of English.
- Theatre
students participate in the American College Theatre Festival,
and Music students perform throughout Northern California.
- Theatre
and Music students have opportunities to perform in a wide range
of ensembles and productions throughout the year.
- Art students
exhibit their work in galleries and the Juried Student Art Exhibition
and the Juried Student Print Exhibition.
- Each spring,
graduate students and students in Honors read papers and report
on research and creative projects at the annual HFA Symposium.
- The HFA
Celebration of Student Achievement honors students who have
won scholarships and awards.

and make a contribution to the life of Chico State. Some choices
