Research Interests
Dr. Campbell's current research explores the interplay between colonial and indigenous representatives in the northeastern borderlands during the eighteenth-century. Specific attention is paid to the 1768 treaty held at Fort Stanwix, the Haudenosaunee, Crown agents, and the Ohio River Valley.
Publications
Professor Campbell has published/forthcoming articles and book reviews in a number of journals and forums including Ontario History, European Journal of American Studies, Journal of the West, Pennsylvania History and H-Amstdy. He has also contributed to Treaties with American Indians (ABC-Clio, 2007) and The Encyclopedia of the Early Republic and Antebellum America (M.E. Sharpe, 2007).
Honors and Awards
Dr. Campbell has received a number of grants and appointments to support his research. Host institutions have included the Library Company of Philadelphia, the McNeil Center for Early American Studies, the American Philosophical Society, theRoyal Ontario Museum, the Virginia Historical Society, the Filson Historical Society and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
