My own conclusion is that history is simply social development along the lines of weakest resistance, and that in most cases the line of weakest resistance is found as unconsciously by society as by water.”
History Department, CSU, Chico
K-12 Outreach
Two significant outreach efforts are hosted by the CSU Chico History Department. The North State History-Social Science Project, one of the California Subject Matter Projects, has been a fixture in the Department since 1993. It provides high quality professional development for teachers throughout northeastern California in a variety of formats, including summer institutes, school inservice programs, and workshops. It also provides support to schools and districts through long- and short-term partnerships.
The California Council for History Education, founded in 2005, is a professional association of historians and history educators that is dedicated to promoting the teaching of history in the schools. It is affiliated with the National Council for History Education.
