Student Activities and Organizations

There are two student organizations affiliated with the History Department at CSU Chico. Both CLIO -- the History Club -- and Phi Alpha Theta sponsor a number of intellectual and social activities throughout the year, ranging from lectures, field trips, film showings and discussions to picnics, parties, and more. CLIO is open to all who wish to join, whether they are History majors or not. Phi Alpha Theta is the local chapter of a national History honor society. Students also edit and produce The Chico Historian, a journal that publishes students' historical research papers written in conjunction with coursework taken at CSU Chico.

Students play other roles in the History Department as well, and may be found working in the History Department office in addition to serving as teaching assistants in the classroom.
