Noelle Jahn

Noelle joined the Honors Program in Fall 2009 and is currently Resident Advisor of the Konkow Honors House.  She enjoys living in an environment where friendships are formed and that provides academic success, promotes personal well-being and community involvement. Noelle values living in   Honors housing because it surrounds her with passionate people who take advantage of the opportunities Chico State has to offer.

Recently, Noelle spent five weeks studying abroad in India. She was able to earn course credit towards her upper division theme, while learning first-hand about Indian culture in Bangalore, India. Honors advisor Zanja Yudell gave Noelle confidence to study abroad by helping her prepare and overcome obstacles that arose during the planning process.

Some of Noelle’s favorite courses at Chico State have been Honors courses that have helped shaped her to be the student she is today. Currently, Dr. John Mahoney, the Director of the Honors Program, is her instructor for Science & Human Values and the Faculty Mentor for her residents in Konkow. She is excited about the opportunity to collaborate with him on programs for the Honors freshman.

Noelle came to Chico State hoping to make a positive impact on the campus and surrounding community, while earning an education to become a nurse. Currently, she is volunteering with Butte Home Health & Hospice and feels spending time with those in their final stage of life will be profoundly rewarding.

One of the features of the Honors Program that Noelle values is the advising she has received from the Program and attributes her success and confidence to the advisors’ help and guidance in all aspects on her education here at Chico State. Noelle says that, "being a member of the Honors Program has proved to be one of the most rewarding aspects of my time here at Chico State, and I know it has helped me to achieve some of my personal and academic triumphs."
