Welcome from the Director
On behalf of the Department of University Housing and Food Service (UHFS), welcome to California State University, Chico!
The information contained on this site provides important information regarding the University Housing program and the on-campus housing experience, which is unique to CSU, Chico.
University Housing and Food Service is committed to providing a residential living/learning environment that directly supports the educational, social, and personal development of each student. The four essential principals which guide our program and services are personal development for each resident, education, mutual respect, and community membership.
We encourage students to get involved on a personal level within each residential community. This can occur through volunteer leadership opportunities as a member of hall council or through many student employment opportunities available in the residence halls. In addition, special programs, major events, and staff- and hall-sponsored programming, community service, and leadership opportunities are all excellent ways to become actively engaged in the residential experience.
This website also provides residence hall/apartment regulations and the expectations the University has for each member of our communities.
I remain convinced that the second most important decision a student makes after finalizing their college choice is where they are going to live. Chico State students do have choices, but we believe none are better than the on-campus housing experience. You will soon discover that residing on campus is the other half of your university education!
Wishing you a successful and rewarding year at the University . . .
David Stephen, EdD,
Director of University Housing and Food Service
