The Residence Halls
The residential life program at Chico State encourages personal growth in a residential setting and provides a climate where the community atmosphere complements the educational mission of the University. Each residence hall has live–in staff consisting of a professional, full-time residence community coordinator or an assistant residence community coordinator, and a student resident advisor for each living area. There is also a programming and leadership coordinator who initiates educational, social, and athletic activities within the housing community. For those who choose to live on campus, the University offers five residence halls: Lassen, Shasta, Whitney, Mechoopda, and Esken.
All of these halls are served by one main dining center that provides a full range of food services, Whitney Dining.
In addition, a Thematic Living Program is located in Konkow Hall—house–style units with a common living room, two gender–specific restrooms, and a kitchen. The units house 16 students each and are designed for this special program. In cooperation with faculty in their academic departments, the residents of each housing unit create a living environment to enhance their academic program. This is achieved through organized activities such as lectures, programs, musical and cultural events, and dinners. Students interested in Konkow Hall should contact the University Housing Office for more information, 530-898-6325.
