Residence Halls and University Village

Residence Halls

The residential life program at Chico State encourages personal growth and provides a community atmosphere that complements the educational mission of the University. Each residence hall has live-in staff consisting of a full-time professional residence community coordinator or an assistant residence community coordinator, and a student resident advisor for each living area.

For those who choose to live on campus, the University offers six residence halls: Lassen, Shasta, Sutter, Whitney, Mechoopda, and Esken.

University Village

University Village is apartment-style accommodations with all the benefits of a residence hall combined with a more independent living arrangement, including a shared kitchen and dining room configured in 4-bedroom suites. Like the residence halls, University Village has a full-time professional residence community coordinator, an assistant residence community coordinator, and 15 student resident advisors. University Village has two swimming pools, a spa, program building and ample parking. University Village is less than one mile away from the main campus.

Sutter Residential Dining

All University Housing residents are served by one main dining center, Sutter Residential Dining, that provides a full range of food services, providing 19 meals per week. In addition, Sutter Cafe is open until midnight Sunday through Thursday and 9 pm Friday and Saturday.

Thematic Living Program

We also offer a Thematic Living Program located in Konkow Houses. Each house includes a common living room, two gender-specific restrooms, and a kitchen. The units house 14 students each. In cooperation with faculty in their academic departments, the residents of each “house” create a living environment to enhance their academic program. This is achieved through activities such as lectures, programs, musical and cultural events, and dinners. Students interested in Konkow Hall should contact the University Housing Office for more information, 530-898-6325.
