At Chico State University, student housing is separated into three residential areas: Main campus, North Campus, and University Village. University Village is the largest residential community at Chico State, accommodating 620 returning and first-year students and is located on approximately 10 acres about 1 mile from the campus core.
University Village has 15 RA staff and two full-time professional community managers.
UV community staff assist students with their transition to college life, as well as aide in educational, social, recreational and cultural programming activities.
University Village is home to two themed residential programs. These programs compliment the learning and social experiences of residential students. University Village themes include Engineering and Agriculture.
What sets University Village apart from our other residence halls is the apartment community feel. For first-year residents, a typical The University Village room setting is one of two types: a six-person cluster floor plan, or a two-person Double Studio floor plan.
University Village complex also hosts transfer, returning and exchange students, who are offered 4-room cluster floor plans.
Whatever the specific floor plan, each cluster of rooms has several attractive features: fully furnished rooms, access to a kitchen, DSL internet access, air conditioning, cable television and telephone service with call waiting and with voicemail.
The University Village community includes a computer lab, study lounge, recreation room, on site laundry rooms, a tennis court, two swimming pools and spa.
Safety features include copy-resistant magnetic core keys, Residential Life staff and University Police patrols. University Village is considered ‘on campus’ living. Participation in the residential dining program is voluntary.
Living in University Village is a lot different than living on-campus. Out here you have your own apartment. I like the people and what I like most about University Village is living in a community, yet living in independence. It’s a great way to have your own apartment, yet stay really connected to the university. What I think is most unique about University Village is the diversity. On campus is mainly first-year students. Out here we have transfer students, some third year students, a lot of international students, and first year students, but what makes it great is all of these students come together and I absolutely love it.
