University Housing and Food Service, CSU, Chico
Residence Hall Association
Purpose
At California State University, Chico we have the pleasure of being one piece of a nationwide, student run, organization that represents students living in University-owned residence halls. The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is responsible for representing the over 1,900 residents housed in the residential communities at CSU, Chico. The Residence Hall Association strives to be “the voice of the residents” through programming, philanthropy, confronting concerns, attending conferences, and guiding the 4 community Hall Councils in the pursuit of leadership. These procedures are initiated, run, and funded by the residents.
As one of the largest student-run organizations on campus, RHA strives to provide a sense of overall community to all students living within the residence halls. RHA is affiliated both regionally with The Pacific Affiliation of College and University Residence Halls (PACURH) and nationally with the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). These affiliations keep California State University, Chico RHA connected to many universities and colleges across the United States and Canada. These connections offer a wealth of information, ideas, and networking abilities to all students within RHA.
President-Cameron Whitfield
My name is Cameron Whitfield, the RHA President. This is my third year
being involved in with the Residence Halls, second as RHA President. I
was the Whitney Hall Council President my first year, and the
Multicultural Affairs Coordinator on RHA my sophomore year. I am an
Anthropology major, but I hope to enter the Student Affairs or
Residence Life. I am here because I believe that there is potential in
every one of our residents. It is our responsibility to help them
actualize that potential (through getting involved) and into to the
adults that they are striving to become. I have immensely enjoy being
involved with University Housing and grateful for the students and
people that I work with every single day.
Vice President-Shannon Smith
My name is Shannon Brittany Smith and I am the Vice-President of the
Residence Hall Association (RHA) and the President of the National
Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). This is my second year being a member
of both student organizations. I am a third year, working towards a
degree in Kinesiology while hanging out with my friends and co-workers
in my spare time. I love to keep busy, by swimming, dancing, and going
camping with my friends. Student Leadership through my eyes is defined
as helping yourself through helping others, which is one of the main
purposes of RHA and NRHH. This definition is what keeps me involved
with Student Leadership, I am here to grow as a person while helping
others grow as well.
National Communications Coordinator-Brandyn Gibson

currently working towards a bachelors degree in Atmospheric Sciences

Chico any source of water can substitute. I look forward to hopefully
meeting you in person and hope to make many positive changes in the
Residence Halls this year.
