Typing Certificate Resources
It is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain a current, valid typing/keyboarding certificate when required. Scanned photocopies of certificates are acceptable, provided the copies are clear – erasures or whiteout are not acceptable. You should keep your original certificate. We are not responsible for photocopying your certificate from a previous recruitment. CSU, Chico reserves the right to verify certificates with the issuing agency.
A valid typing/keyboarding certificate may be obtained from a government agency, temporary employment agency, Business College, adult school or a public school system. The CSU, Chico Human Resources Service Center does not accept typing/keyboarding certificates taken from the Internet.
To be valid, certificates must indicate the items listed below. If a certificate does not include one of these items, ask the issuing party to write it in:
- Your name
- Length of test (a five-minute timed test is required)
- Date the test was taken (must be less than one-year old)
- Address and telephone number of the agency where the test was taken
- Signature of the person administering the test
- Gross Words Per Minute (GWPM)
- Number of errors
**The Human Resources Service Center counts typing/keyboarding speed by subtracting the number of errors from the gross words per minute.
The following local employment agencies have testing available (a fee may be required). Please present photo identification:
