Update re: Winter Break Closure 2012

Rev. 12/18/2012

Informal Time Off: December 24, 2012
Prior Winter Break Closure Notice for Dec 25-28, 2012 & Jan 1, 2013 - superceded by this notice, rev. 12/19/2012.

The CSU, Chico campus will be closed during the Winter Break as follows:  Tuesday, December 25 through Friday, December, 28, 2012, and Tuesday, January 1, 2013.  Rescheduled holidays that actually occurred during other times of the year cover most of the closure days.

Date Campus Status Paid Staff Holidays
Monday, December 24, 2012 Campus closed
Informal Time Off - all day
Tuesday, December 25, 2012 Campus closed Holiday
Wednesday, December 26, 2012 Campus closed Holiday - rescheduled Columbus Day
Thursday, December 27, 2012 Campus closed Holiday - rescheduled Presidents' Day
Friday, December 28, 2012 Campus closed Holiday - rescheduled Lincoln's Birthday
Monday, December 31, 2012 Campus open with limited access
(Staff members may use leave credits)
Tuesday, January 1, 2013 Campus closed Holiday

The campus will be open on Monday, December 31, 2012.

  • Employees may request leave (CTO, Vacation, or their Personal Holiday) for December 31, and
  • Departments may plan partial or complete closures for December 31.

On December 31, the campus will be open but only certain buildings will be accessible.  Employees who wished to work were notified to make arrangements with their administrator and Denise Farrell prior to December 7.

The Governor granted informal time off for half a day on the last campus working day before the Christmas holiday. In addition to the Governor’s informal time off, the CSU Chancellor granted authority to presidents (on 12/18/2012) to allow further informal time off on December 24, so the campus will close for the entire day (with the exception of essential personnel).

We anticipate many employees will continue to want to take additional time off the week prior to the winter break (December 17-21, 2012).  We encourage you to speak with your supervisor to discuss vacation leave and coverage during the days the University will be open.

Questions should be addressed to Denise Farrell or Sharyn Abernatha in the Human Resources Service Center. Both can be reached at (530) 898-6771.
