Salary Increases for State Employees

CSUEU (Unit 2, 5, 7 and 9), UAPD (Unit 1), APC (Unit 4), SETC (Unit 6)

Last Spring 2016, pursuant to “me too” clauses in the CBA, the CSU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the following bargaining units granting a 2% General Salary Increase to eligible unit staff:

  • California State University Employees Union (CSUEU - Units 2, 5, 7, and 9)
  • Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD – Unit 1),
  • Academic Professional of California (APC – Unit 4), and
  • State Employees Trades Council (SETC – Unit 6)

The Chancellor’s Office (CO) issued the technical letters on June 26-27, 2017 that defines campus processing details for these 2016/2017 salary increases.

The increases are effective close of business on June 30, 2017 and will be incorporated into the July 2017 paycheck (August 1, 2017 issue date).

Fiscal Year 2017/2018: Negotiations with CSUEU - Units 2, 5, 7, and 9, UAPD – Unit 1, APC – Unit 4, and SETC – Unit 6 have not been completed.

CFA (Unit 3)

California Faculty Association (CFA – Unit 3) completed negotiations 2017/2018 salary increases for its members and the Board of Trustees ratified the collective bargaining agreements on May 24, 2016. The Chancellor’s Office (CO) issued the technical letter on June 30, 2017 that defines campus processing details for the 2017/2018 salary increases.

Fiscal Year 2017/2018: A 3.5% General Salary Increase (GSI) effective July 1, 2017 and will be applied to the individual salary rates of eligible employees. This base salary increase will be incorporated into the July 2017 paycheck (August 1, 2017 issue date).
A 2.65% Service Salary Increase (SSI) will be awarded to eligible faculty members effective of the employee’s Anniversary Date in fiscal year 2017/2018.

SUPA (Unit 8)

Pursuant to their CBA, Statewide University Police Association (SUPA - Unit 8) will receive a 2% General Salary Increase (GSI) for the 2017/2018 fiscal year. The CO issued the technical letter on June 27, 2017 that defines the campus processing details for the 2017/2018 salary increases. These increases are effective July 1, 2017.

Fiscal Year 2017/2018: A 2% General Salary Increase (GSI) effective July 1, 2017 and will be applied to the individual salary rates of eligible employees. This base salary increase will be incorporated into the July 2017 paycheck (August 1, 2017 issue date).
Salary Step 3 is being inactivated. Any employee currently appointed at step 3 will be moved to Step 4 effective July 1, 2017. Salary increase will be incorporated into the July 2017 paycheck (August 1, 2017 issue date).

UAW (Unit 11) – Academic Student Employees

Academic Student Employees (UAW - United Auto Workers) completed negotiations for 2017/2018 salary increases for its members and the Board of Trustees ratified the collective bargaining agreement on November 16, 2016. The Chancellor’s Office (CO) issued the technical letter on June 27, 2017 that defines some campus processing details for the 2017/2018 salary increases. The increases will be effective to July 1, 2017.

Fiscal Year 2017/2018: A 2% General Salary Increase (GSI) effective July 1, 2017 will be applied to the appointees in Teaching Associate (TA) and Graduate Assistant (GA) classifications. A $.25 GSI increase will also be applied to the Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) appointees. The salary range minimums and maximums for the GA and TA classifications are being increased by 3%. In addition, the salary range minimums and maximums for the ISA classifications are being increased by $.50. This base salary increase will be incorporated into the July 2017 paycheck (August 2017 issue date).
