Fees Waived for Employees

In short: Estimated Fees to Pay = Regular Registration Fees and Tuition - Fee Waiver Value

The CSU Fee Waiver Program waives or partially waives fees for eligible participants.  Tuition Fee may be fully waived for a maximum of two (2) courses or six (6) units, whichever is greater, per term. Eligible employees or dependents taking courses in addition to the fee waiver courses shall pay any difference in fees. All other fees are at the regular rates.

What fees do I pay and how?

After submitting appropriate forms to Human Resources (zip 0010) by the deadline, you can pay your estimated fees.

  • Go to Student Service Center, Room 230 and pay the estimated fees at the Cashiering window
  • Tell the cashier you are "utilizing the fee waiver benefit"
  • Tell them your bargaining unit

Which fees are waived and not waived?

The University application fee is waived for all types of staff fee waivers. Check the $55 University application fee box on the fee waiver application form to request a waiver of the application fee.

For details on fees waived, view the CSU Employee Fee Waiver Eligibility Chart.  In general, Category I and some Category II fees are waived for staff.

The following fees may not covered by the fee waiver program:

  • Lab fees
  • $13 of the Document Fee
  • Course fees, such as those for Library and Business classes
  • Graduate Professional Program fees (such as CSU, Chico MBA fees) may or may not be covered by the fee waiver program (see Related CSU Information)
    • The following employee groups are eligible to have all Category I fees waived, including the Graduate Professional fee: Faculty (Unit 3), Academic Professionals (Unit 4), and CSUEU (Units 2, 5, 7, 9)
    • All other employee groups not listed above, along with all eligible dependents, are subject to Professional Program fees.

Participation in the fee waiver program shall entitle an employee to instructional services but not to student services (e.g., Health Services, WREC membership, etc.).
