Summer Hardship Exception Requests

Campus administration will work with employees to accommodate staff for whom summer schedule may constitute a hardship due to childcare, elder care, medical issues, and/or physical limitations. 

Summer Hardship Request and Notice of Work Schedule Forms

No Forms Required

Provided departmental needs are met, accommodations may be made with a request to the appropriate administrator as follows:

  • Use of an alternate 10-hour Monday - Thursday schedule
    • For example, 6:00a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
    • 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (with a one hour lunch)
  • Us of vacation or compensatory time off (CTO) to reduce the hours of work for non-exempt employees
    • For example, a non-exempt employee who works 9-hours uses 1-hour approved vacation each day

Summer Hardship Request Form Required

  • An employee who requested and was denied a proposed alternate 10-hour Monday – Thursday schedule
  • A non-exempt employee who would like to use dock time to account for time off
  • An exempt employee who cannot work a 10-hour day
  • An employee who is seeking something other than a Monday - Thursday schedule

Notice of Work Schedule Form required

  • An exempt employee who cannot work a 10-hour day
  • An employee who is needing something other than a Monday - Thursday schedule (including part-time employees)

The Summer Hardship Exception and the Notice of Work Schedule forms are due to the Director of Labor Relations & Compliance by May 12, 2017.
