News & Updates

ISPI San Francisco

ISPI 2010

Chico State IDTS annually attends the International Society for Performance Improvement's Conference as student volunteers. It is a great opportunity for the students to network with industry professionals and to learn the latest trends in instructional design.

This year we are proud to present, along with Dr. John Roussell (our faculty advisor and mentor), our study on Generation M. It is very rare for students to present at this prestigious conference, especially undergraduate students. We are excited and proud to be sharing our research and conclusions with conference attendees.

The conference will be April 17-22 in San Francisco. Members who wish to attend as volunteers should talk to an IDTS officer. Visit the ISPI website for more information.

Alumni

IDTS Alumni Database

We are currently working on creating a database of Chico State IDTS alumni to be included on the "Alumni" section of the website

We think it will be a great way to improve networking between Chico State Instructional Designers as well as a way to show students what IDTS graduates have done with their degree.

If you are an alumnus who would like to be included click here.

compost bin

AS Compost Video

The Associated Students Compost program has requested the assistance of IDTS to help them create an educational video.

AS describes composting as a practice that "diverts wastes that are currently going to the landfill. Composting also improves fertility, health of gardens, and gives an opportunity to learn about the processes of decomposition. It is easy, inexpensive and fun."
Visit AS Compost's website to learn more.

IDTS will work with AS Compost to create a video that is both informative and entertaining. This will be a chance for IDTS members with video production experience to show off their skills and be a great hands-on learning experience for members interested in video.

SCOOP

SCOOP Project

The Sustainable Consultations of Office Practices (SCOOP) has enlisted IDTS to help create training and other informational materials to help other schools implement a SCOOP program on their campus.

SCOOP "provides sustainable consultations to all campus departments and offices to learn and take charge in new “sustainability” techniques to start saving money and energy. The process consists of student consultants taking a walk through the office and then providing recommendations for the office. The goal is to generate savings for the campus and to help your office become more sustainable in your everyday routines."
Visit SCOOP's website to learn more.

We encourage members of all experience and education levels to participate. This will be a great opportunity for some of our more senior members to gain real-life experiences as well as a great learning opportunity for our members who are new to instructional design.

Recycling Workshop

Recycling Education Workshops

Last April IDTS members delivered Recycling Education Workshops to the students of Forest Ranch Charter School. The workshops were created by members of IDTS who designed them according to instructional design models. Find out more about the project here.
