International Languages, Literatures and Cultures
We offer five majors and ten minors in the Department of International Languages, Literatures, and Cultures: French, German, Spanish, Asian Studies, and Latin American Studies. There are minors in French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, African Studies, Asian Studies, European Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, and Latin American Studies. Asian Studies, French, Latin American Studies and Spanish offer honors in the major. There are other language courses as well: Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Portuguese, and Russian, all of which can be credited toward one of the area studies programs above.

Kyle Heise is pursuing a triple major in history, Spanish, and Latin American Studies. He the president of Phi Sigma Iota, the Foreign Language Honor Society, and Phi Alpha Theta, the History Honor Society.
Spanish professor Dr. Char Prieto joins elite Spanish Language Academy
Dr. Prieto has been named an honorary Corresponding Member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE) in D.C.

Every week throughout the semester, a speaker will share his/her knowledge and views of countries from the five continents. As an open forum, this gathering allows ample participation for faculty, students and members of the local Chico Community.
