Quick Facts: International Languages, Literatures and Cultures (ILLC)

• Spanish is one of the few approved pre-credential Spanish waiver programs in the state.

• One of four Programs in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts slated to move into the new Arts and Humanities building in Fall 2016:  The Year of Creativity

Five majors in:  

French, German, Spanish, Asian Studies, and Latin American Studies.  

Ten Minors in:

French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, African Studies, Asian Studies, European Studies, Middle Eastern Studies, and Latin American Studies.

There are other language courses as well in Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Portuguese, and Russian.

Two Master’s degrees in

Teaching International Languages and Peace Corps International:  TESOL pattern

 There is also a Graduate Certificate in TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language)

International Forum:

The forum is open to the local community, and consists of a series of presentations (i.e., lectures, debates, and panel discussions) on a wide variety of topics of current international concern.  As an open forum, INST 301 provides ample opportunities for learning and appreciating the richness of multicultural settings.

Publications:

ChicoSol - (Chico’s Sun) is a monthly, non-profit online magazine and news service committed to building a cross-cultural community to address social issues in the Northern Sacramento Valley. We cover issues of concern to both English and Spanish-speaking readers through journalism, the arts, and civic action.

 CubanaBooks – a non-profit press that publishes bilingual editions of Cuban women writers in the US and promotes their work.

 ME: Multicultural Echoes Literary Magazine - CSU, Chico’s multilingual literary magazine, invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to submit their original and unpublished works for possible publication.
