Professional Achievement Honors Reward Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship
Four faculty members have been selected by the CSU, Chico Faculty Recognition and Support Committee to receive 2011–2012 Professional Achievement Honors. This year's recipients are Leslie Atkins, Science Education and Physics; Sherrow Pinder, Political Science and Multicultural and Gender Studies; Emilyn Sheffield, Recreation, Hospitality, and Parks Management; and Erik Wasinger, Chemistry. Eric Bartelink was also honored as the Outstanding Research Mentor.
"The Farther Shore": A Conversation with Rob Davidson About His New Collection of Short Stories
Bear Star Press recently released The Farther Shore, a story collection by Rob Davidson, English. His first book, Field Observations: Stories (Missouri, 2001), won the 2002 Maria Thomas Fiction Award. His second book is The Master and the Dean: The Literary Criticism of Henry James and William Dean Howells (Missouri, 2005). Davidson’s fiction, essays and interviews have appeared in Another Chicago Magazine, the AWP Writer’s Chronicle, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Indiana Review, Sycamore Review, Zyzzyva, and elsewhere.

CSU Student Trustee Jillian Ruddell
When a CSU university president leaves the post, senior Jillian Ruddell helps hire the successor. When the California State Student Association holds its monthly board meetings, Ruddell is there. When Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom needed a guide during his February stop in Chico, Ruddell stepped in.
125th Anniversary
A special event for CSU, Chico’s 125th anniversary will be the Chico State Expo 125 on Saturday, April 14, featuring a multitude of fun and free activities for the community. This is a special invitation to university employees and their families.
