More than 2,800 admitted fall 2013 students and their family members visited CSU, Chico as part of the annual Choose Chico! event on April 6.

Hosted by the Office of Admissions, the daylong open house allowed students to experience the campus firsthand and interact with faculty, staff, and current students.

The day started with registration at the BMU Auditorium and other sites and a welcome from CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg in Laxson Auditorium. Other activities included tours of the campus and the city, a Student Involvement Fair, Financial Aid and University Housing presentations, and meetings with representatives from various colleges and departments.

In anticipation of this year’s Choose Chico!, we asked our current students and alumni on Twitter to share why they chose to attend Chico State. Check out the Chico State blog to see their responses.

We also created a hashtag, #choosechico, and urged attendees to use it throughout the day in their tweets and posts about the event.

“Bragged about our awesome program today at #choosechico! I love my school and major,” tweeted journalism and public relations major Rebecca Seylar.

“Proud that we offered housing & dining information in English, Spanish, and ASL to hundreds of parents and students who came to #ChooseChico” tweeted another attendee, Shawn Brackett.
