Middle Eastern Studies
Minor in Middle Eastern Studies
Middle Eastern Studies focuses on the cradle of human civilization and the birthplace of three major religions. The Middle East has played a pivotal role in human history and has been extremely prominent in international politics and economic affairs in recent years.
The minor in Middle Eastern Studies is designed so that students can take courses in geography, history, political science, religious studies, anthropology, and economics and combine them into a comprehensive program of study. Students are also encouraged, although not required, to study one of the major languages of the area. Two such languages – Arabic and Hebrew – are offered through the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
Students are highly encouraged to take advantage of study abroad opportunities in the region.
