Minimum English Proficiency Levels

ALL TEST SCORES MUST BE VALID AND VERIFIABLE. Test scores are valid up to two years from the test date.
*CHICO STATE'S INSTITUTIONAL CODE FOR ELECTRONIC TEST SCORE SUBMISSION IS 4048.
Exceptions to language proficiency requirement:
- Students who have completed a degree (or three years of full-time academic study at secondary and/or post-secondary schools) in Australia, Great Britain, Anglophone Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, or the United States
- Completion of level 6 at the American Language and Culture Institute on the CSU, Chico campus
English Language Training/Conditional Admission
Students needing additional English language training can apply to the American Language and Culture Institute at CSU, Chico. If accepted for conditional admission, students study at the American Language and Culture Institute. Once the appropriate English proficiency level is met, students may begin their academic programs at the University. For more information, see Conditional Admission.
Note: Not all Graduate programs offer conditional admission. Check with the specific department to which you are applying.
