Campus Internationalization
The Office of International Education is coordinating the university-wide process of campus internationalization.
Campus Internationalization is defined as the process of further integrating an international and intercultural dimension into the teaching, research, and service functions of the institution.*
For faculty, this means developing a curriculum which gives international and intercultural knowledge and abilities, aimed at preparing students for performing (professionally, socially, and emotionally) in an international and multicultural context.
For staff and administrators, this means ensuring that an orientation towards internationalization is incorporated into the University’s strategic plan, policies, decision-making, and operations.
Task groups are working in a range of areas, assessing needs, developing plans for the future, and implementing programs. The Task Groups and Chairs are:
- Steering Committee,
- Curriculum Development, David Eaton, daeaton@csuchico.edu
- Integrating International Students into the Campus and Community, James Luyirika-Sewaguude, Jr., jamesls@csuchico.edu
- Advancement and Fundraising,
- International Service-Learning and Internships, Kui-Hee Song, ksong@csuchico.edu
- Communication and Networking,
- Faculty and Staff Development, Paula Selvester, pselvester@csuchico.edu
- Community Outreach, Tasha Dev, tdev@csuchico.edu
These areas were identified at a September 2007 forum, attended by more than 80 students, staff, and faculty from across the campus. (See Forum Report). For more information on the work of each task group, or to join, please contact the person listed above.
