At the institutional level, CSU, Chico is accredited by the Senior College Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), one of six regional associations that accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States. In 2001, WASC adopted new Standards and processes that radically changed its model of accreditation shifting the focus from capacity and inputs to student learning and organizational effectiveness. The new model adapts to the plans, needs and priorities of the university, spans the course of five years, and is reflective, evidence-driven and outcomes based.
It is within this context, that CSU, Chico embarked upon the reaffirmation of its accreditation by WASC in 2003. Chico has been continuously accredited by WASC since 1949.
