Student Employee Administrative Access to CMS/PeopleSoft Limited to Regular Work Hours

As part of our on-going efforts to improve campus information security, we are making a change to student employee access to CMS/PeopleSoft.  Student employee administrative access to CMS/PeopleSoft will soon be limited to regular work hours (Mon - Fri 7am-6pm).  Some student employees will require access during off-hours (e.g., Student Computing Help Desk, etc.), in these cases an exception will made on a department by department or case by case basis.

Making this change to limit student employee access requires a change to all CMS/PeopleSoft roles/accounts.  All employee users of CMS/PeopleSoft will continue to have two accounts, an account used to access self service functions (HR/Benefits, Faculty Center, Student Center) via the Portal and an account to access CMS/PeopleSoft administrative functions. The self service account will still be available 24x7 for all users.  The administrative account will continue to be available to non-student users 24x7.  Student employees, however, will only have access to administrative functions in CMS/PeopleSoft during the work day.

Once this change is made, staff, faculty and student users will not be able to access self service functions through their administrative account.  Self service information will only be available through their portal/self service account.

This change is scheduled to be implemented on March 17, 2009.  If your department has student employees who require access to CMS before 7am or after 6pm, please contact HR Security or SA Security to ensure we are aware of your requirements.

Feel free to direct general questions regarding these changes to Brooke Banks at bfbanks@csuchico.edu.  Specific questions regarding CMS/PeopleSoft HR, Student or Financials security should be directed to the appropriate security group.
